Dialed In: Perfect Saturdays

Dialed In is the women of Nixon's place to showcase the best budding trends around—and the sweet stuff that's capturing our attention this month.

One thing we know for certain is that Saturday is one of our favorite days of the week. Who doesn't love the day that announces that the weekend is here? Inspired by our favorite day of the week, and our collaboration with Kate Spade Saturday, we turned to some ladies that know what's what, and ask them what their perfect weekend would look like.

Lisa Anderson, Nixon surfer
Saturday morning, I'm awaking to a view of the Indian Ocean outside the porthole of the Barrenjoey. Coffee is pretty strong in the Samatra islands and so good for fueling a day checking all the surf spots with my friends.

We motor up to this perfect right hand wave. It looks like so much fun. Palm trees line the beach and there is no one around but us. So peaceful. The water is like a swimming pool and after a heap on sunscreen we all paddle out and surf for hours until we are crisp and thirsty!

After fresh caught fish for lunch on the deck, we lay around in hammocks and trade off stories of the waves we surfed that day. Many laughs and later we decide for a late evening surf.

As sun starts it's way down we paddle in and pull anchor. Opening a few cold drinks we watch the sun set on the horizon. Off to bed—and when we wake tomorrow, we will do it all over again.

Jessica Koslow, SQIRL founder + chef

Perfect Saturday. Sleeping in until 9 (omg). Making coffee at home and returning to bed with the newspaper, my pup and my man somewhere nearby. We'd stop by Sqirl to get a packed lunch and head down to Point Dume, listening to some Dick Dale on the ride down.

Once we're tuckered from the beach, we'd head back home, stopping at Malibu Seafood to pick up some fresh fish to grill back at home. A bottle of Frantz Saumon's, Mineral Plus, the grills roaring and dinner with a movie ends the night.

Niki Roberton, IAMSOUND Records founder

My perfect Saturday would be in Norfolk, England. My family has a house in a small village called Edgefield, which at this time of year is about as chocolate-box-British as you can get: Never-ending fields of poppies, hauntingly beautiful woods, and stunning beaches. One beach in particular, Holkham, is where I'd probably want to start of my day. The walk from the car park, over the sand dunes, and finally to the beach takes about 2 hours and it's rare to see anyone at all.

Next, I'd head to Holt, a nearby village, which has an amazing vintage shop called Past Caring. The lady who runs it is usually dressed head to toe in period-vintage and has the greatest selection of clothes, hats, and jewelry.

To finish off the day I'd head to a pub for dinner—a British country pub can't be beat at any time of year. One of my favorites is The Gunton Arms which was recently bought by the Art Dealer Ivor Braka. It's set right in the middle of a Deer Park and every inch of the pub is covered in priceless art. Nothing beats drinking a pint and having a roast next to a Damien Hirst original.
