JOHN JOHN FLORENCE WINS THE 2011 NIXON WTA TRIPLE CROWN

The final stop of the 2011 Nixon WTA (winner-takes-all) wrapped up on the North Shore of Oahu during the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. It was 19-year-old John John Florence who claimed victory and won the overall Triple Crown title and with it, a custom one-of-a-kind Nixon worth $10,000. John John, notably, is the youngest surfer to ever to win Triple Crown.

The Nixon WTA is a winner-takes-all event which awards custom, limited edition Nixon timepieces for accomplishments made in the water that are unique to four stops along the ASP World Tour. As the winner of the Nixon WTA Triple Crown, John John is now owner of a custom one-of-a-kind black ceramic automatic Nixon 51-30 watch. This Swiss made mechanical timepiece is adorned with 50 black diamonds on the bezel, six black sapphires, 95 black diamond accents, as well as a Hawaiian flag on the dial. The watch is customized with an engraved caseback of the Nixon WTA logo and an etched Hawaiian flag complimenting the sidewall of the case.

"It's fitting that John John has won Triple Crown", said Nixon Marketing Manager, Mike Murciano. "He grew up with Pipe in his backyard and Haleiwa and Sunset just down the road. I am sure this accomplishment is one he is very proud of and we are thrilled to have John John as part of the Nixon Team."

John John posted up the highest heat score of the event at Pipe Masters which was held in solid conditions with consistent 8-10 foot waves. It has been a great year for John John who earlier in 2011 won the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout, the Volcom Pipeline Pro and qualified for the World Tour. This win is icing on the cake for an already accomplished year.
