Nixon X 2012 Street League Championship

Nixon X 2012 Street League Championship

The final stop of the 2012 Street League tour will roll into Newark, New Jersey this Sunday at the Prudential Center for its winner-takes-all Championship event. Eight pros will go head-to-head at a chance to win $200k, a new Chevy Sonic, plus a custom, limited edition Nixon watch and ring set worth $100k.

The winner-takes-all format of Street League pits the world's most elite skaters against one another to take home the 2012 Championship title and prizes. Back to defend his 2011 overall win is Sean Malto who along with Nyjah Huston, Paul Rodriguez, Chris Cole, Chaz Ortiz, Luan Oliveira, Bastien Salabanzi and Ryan Sheckler will bring their A-game for a chance to be crowned the 2012 champ.

Nixon, along with Street League founder Rob Dyrdek, collaborated to design a unique Street League Championship watch and ring set. According to Rob, "When we conceived of adding a watch to the Championship prize, Nixon was the first brand that came to mind. Winning the Street League Championship represents the most elite and highest achievement in competitive street skating. It only made sense to pair up with the most elite brand inside our world- and that brand is Nixon."

2012 marks the third year that Street League and Nixon have worked together to design the championship watch. The approach to creating the ultimate championship timepiece has been with a "sky's the limit" design sense. The result is a handcrafted Swiss made Nixon 51-30 featuring over 700 diamonds, gold plating and a custom engraved caseback.

Further echoing the exclusiveness of this watch, Rob went on to say, "This year Nixon took it to the next level. It was already amazing how they were able to take the inspiration around the traditional championship ring concept and bring that to the watch in full form. This year, though, the unique championship colorway of black and gold blended with the diamonds really elevated the overall design."

The 2012 Street League has had record-breaking attendance along the way in Kansas City, California and Arizona. Nyjah was the man of the hour and the one to beat with two 1st place rankings in the Kansas City and California stops. P-Rod went trick for trick during the Arizona contest, landing a switch 360 flip, a switch backside tailslide, and a switch crooked grind in the Big Section against Chris Cole, Ryan Sheckler and Shane O'Neill, and was able to nudge out Cole by 2.6 points for the victory there.

To see the who will win the 2012 Street League Championship and the Nixon x SLS championship watch and ring tune in live on ESPN2 at 5PM ET, Sunday August 26.
