Nixon x Street League Skateboarding Championship Watch
The third and final stop of the 2014 Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Nike SB World Tour series will take place this coming Sunday, August 24 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The winner-takes-all championship event signifies the finale of all 2014 SLS tour stops and the champion will win a one-of-a-kind customized Nixon 51-30 watch valued at $20,000, in addition to a $200,000 cash prize.
This year's Nixon x SLS 51-30 was designed as a collaborative effort between Street League founder Rob Dyrdek and Nixon. The aesthetic of the championship watch strives to echo a look of an iconic trophy—one that's awarded for something truly extraordinary. "SLS's Super Crown is a culmination of the best-of-the-best in street skating," said Nixon Category Manager of Technical Products, Joe Babcock. "Each year the course is elevated and the skating is taken to an insane level. Our goal in creating this limited edition trophy watch is to create something that is anything but ordinary; and I can say with all confidence, we accomplished that." Rob Dyrdek added, "Nixon never ceases to amaze us with the custom watch they create to celebrate the SLS Super Crown. This year's watch is more prestigious than ever before and the vision for this product is only made possible by the Nixon team."
The Nixon x SLS 51-30 features:
- Swiss Made Automatic movement
- Super Crown machined bezel detailing with 24 diamonds inlayed into the bezel
- 720 pave diamond encrusted center link stainless steel band
- Exhibition case back with Champion's name engraved
- Red and gold colorway to mirror the Super Crown course colors
- IP gold plating
- Sapphire crystal
SLS was founded in 2010 by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek to foster the growth of street skateboarding worldwide. Considered the premier competitive series in skateboarding, each of the three stops of the SLS tour transforms arenas into custom concrete skate plazas. Top pros then compete for the largest prize purse in skateboarding—$1 million dollars. A highly exclusive skate event, only eight finalists earn a spot to compete at the Super Crown stop in Newark. Contending for the Nixon x SLS Championship 51-30 at this year's Super Crown includes Nixon team riders Torey Pudwill and Paul Rodriguez as well as Ishod Wair, Luan Oliveira, Matt Berger, Chaz Ortiz, Shane O'Neill, and Nyjah Huston.
