JOEL PARKINSON'S THIRD CONSECUTIVE WIN FOR THE FINAL STOP OF THE 2010 NIXON WTA
Joel Parkinson conquers the Vans Triple Crown of Surf, making him a 3x Winner of The Nixon WTA Triple Crown.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, The Nixon WTA is a winner-takes-all event which awards custom, limited edition Nixon timepieces at three stops along the ASP World Tour. The three WTA challenges included: highest heat score at Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, in July; heaviest wave at Teahupoo, Tahiti, in August; and the overall Triple Crown winner on the North Shore of Oahu in December.
The Haleiwa event marked the 1st stop of the Vans Triple Crown and saw classic conditions and some of the best surf overall in the three events. Parkinson won the first competition in Haleiwa and later secured a quarterfinal finish at the Sunset event. He then went on to secure a round three finish at the Pipe contest, further illustrating his prowess in the ASP on the North Shore across all three spots of the Triple Crown.
