Congrats to Nixon Surfer Conner Coffin on successfully defending his 2012 US Open Of Surfing Juniors title!

Conner Coffin successfully defended his Juniors title in a totally one-sided affair affected by long lulls and mushy sections. But finding a quiet psychological medium amidst the overwhelming spectacle didn't come as easy.
"When I was younger I couldn't deal with the circus. I'd get down here and be so nervous," admitted Coffin, who left runner-up Carlos Munoz needing a perfect 10 and his other two opponents comboed en route to an excited shoulder-hop up the beach. "But after doing it for a few years, and winning last year, I've been trying to just zone out and surf with the ocean -- just to get in a clear head space to embrace the situation. It's so rad to have my family and all these people here cheering me on. Besides the Rincon Classic, this is the closest thing I have to a hometown contest. I'm not a super psyched kind of guy. I mean, I'm psyched, but it's my own type of psyche. I listen to music, get in a good groove, and just Zen out and try not to think about anything -- just be in my own little world. That's kind of what I'm about."
The Finals podium also included Nixon Surfers Carlos Muñoz and Jake Halstead placing second and third, respectively.
