no skateboarding x Année Boule

no skateboarding x Année Boule

After the great success of "no skateboarding" this spring in Marseille, Nixon is proud to support French photographer Mathias Fennetaux showcasing his art work at Les Docks – Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris.

Fennetaux' exhibition "no skateboarding" is a portrait collection of the greatest personalities and influences in skateboarding and will be show from July 15th until September 30th, 2013 on the occasion of "l'Année Boulle". The renowned Parisian school of fine arts and crafts "L'Ecole Boulle" is celebrating its reinauguration at present and invites to discover the fascinating world of design, art and creativity at numerous events and cultural gatherings in the course of the year.

"no skateboarding x Année Boule" is a complete art space dedicated to the world of skateboarding. In addition to Fennetaux' "photography road movie", several graduates of "l'Ecole Boulle" exhibit selected pieces paying tribute to a sport that has influenced many generations. A collection of artisanal skateboards made of wood and ceramic as well different drawings, illustrations and sculptures using techniques like pyrography, cravings and marquetry are part of this one-of-a-kind showcase.

Mathias Fennetaux has dedicated more than 2 decades to his career in photography, reaching from fashion advertising for major brands to his true passion action sports. In 2011, Fennetaux published his monograph "no skateboarding" – a collection of 70 portraits featuring international skateboarding legends and pioneers, surprisingly getting along without one single action shot. Fennetaux, who wanted to show "the person behind the trick", spent almost 10 years working on the project. Virtually going behind the surface, he shows skateboarders like Steve Cabellero, Rodney Mullen, Tony Hawk or Andrew Reynolds in a static, almost melancholic way underlining their personality as a still life – now to be seen at Les Docks.

"no skateboarding x Année Boulle", supported by the City of Paris, Nixon, and Dornbracht is open daily from 12 until 20 h at Les Docks - Cité de la Mode et du Design,? 34 quai d'Austerlitz, 75013 Paris. Free entry for visitors.
