Interview with Evan Tancredi

What’s good Evan?! Before we dive into your latest Bones project, let the people know more about yourself. Name, age, and where are you from?

My guy! Been a minute. My name is Evan Tancredi, I'm 23 and I'm from North Vancouver, Canada. Born and raised.

Skating in your zone can be tricky with the amount of rain you guys get. Do you have a go-to rainy day spot for those types of days?

Yeah for sure the winter here can suck. Compared to the rest of Canada we don't get much snow but it rains for probably half the year, so it's just always wet. Most of the time I'm trying to flee somewhere warm, or at least dry. But when I'm home I'm super lucky to have Centre Distro. It's a Canadian dist and they have a mini HQ where the team can skate basically any day of the week. Got all the necessities and then some. Flatbar, 2 marble ledges and some perfect qps. Currently we're building some new obstacles too. So we're extremely fortunate to have access to that, I'd go crazy otherwise.

Your latest Bones Bearings video just dropped. What was the hardest clip to get for this video and what was the one that came easier than expected?

Well the hardest was probably my ender, which I won't spoil. But I tried it a year or so prior to when I actually did it. The first time it was at the beginning of a massive heatwave. One of those classic downtown days with no plan and we just ended up going past this spot at the law courts. I had thought about this trick previously and then before I knew it I was jumping down it. I set up a freshie that day and by the end of the sesh both the nose and tail were basically completely square. I went for a few hours until I couldn't really walk back up the stairs anymore and had one bail where I seriously messed up my groin so I had to call it. Not too long after I mentioned to a friend that I had tried it and he told me it was ABD. Every year Vancouver has a massive go skate day event and apparently Joslin had done it then. I was kinda bummed to hear but it was definitely off the table now. Eventually it came up with my other friend who swore he hadn't done it. I did some research and asked around and it turns out he was right, he had done it fakie. That's why it pays to do your homework haha. Anyways I went back pretty soon after and was really motivated to get it done. It was a bit of a battle but more chill than the first time. That was one that kept me up at night so it was a really gratifying feeling to roll away from it. It's not in the video but there were nearby planters and I just fell into one out of relief after I landed it.

Easiest? Is that a thing haha. Jokes aside, probably the first clip of the video. That was out in Lisbon and I was fresh off an injury so I was expecting that to be a bit more of a battle but it was relatively mellow. However later that day I got a heel bruise from hell that lasted months. Name of the game though.

What’s your current set-up look like? Give us a full gear break down.

Santa Cruz Board 8.25. Been skating Fabi's shape for over a year now. Love the short wheel base on her board. Trucks are 144 Indy's, always gotta ride the best. Wheels are X97 54mm V5 Bones for those crusty Canadian spots. For bearings, do I even gotta say? You already know I got the best in the game, Bones swiss baby. Some Indy bolts and always mob girptape!

If someone wanted to go on a skate trip to your zone, what are the spots, parks, skate shops and restaurants they have to go to?

Probably the downtown core of the city. Art gallery, terry fox, bricktown, can't really go wrong. I feel like it just looks best on the film and is the most accurate representation of Vancouver skating. The suburbs have lots of super great spots but are just further apart. Could spend numerous days downtown easily. Parks, I'm probably biased but my local park I grew up at Lonsdale was the best park, it had everything from tiny obstacles to things damn near bigger than street spots. However, unfortunately it got demolished a few years back. Long live lons. Other than that Plaza is classic, Britannia Courts, or Ambleside if you want a park on the beach. Pretty surreal having a sesh as the sun sets behind the city and islands. For shops the crew at The Boardroom is the best and will always get you sorted. Tell Simon I say what up. If you want some top tier stuff your face type of food, this Korean BBQ spot, Dae Bak Bon Ga, is unreal. Always get the all you can eat menu. Robba Da Matti for Italian if I'm focusing on making my ancestors proud. OEB is a fire breakfast spot too.

What’s your go-to Nixon watch at the moment? Is there one you want to see come back in the line?

I would probably have to say the Time Teller Solar. Just super sleek and looks good dressed up or down. Also super comfy to wear while skating. This isn't a watch but could the Blaster please be revived? The people need it. As for watches, the all black Axis was pretty stylish. That would be sick to see again.

What’s next on the agenda for you?

Leaving next week on a trip to SF to film and stay with the homie Izzy. Super hyped for that. Working on a VX full length right now for Centre Dist and we are hopefully going to be travelling for that. We're working on a project at HQ during the rainy season to keep us busy as well, battle commander inspired. Also my band has been recording our debut EP and we've gotten the opportunity to go to this legendary studio up here called The Warehouse. That's been a really fun experience and hopefully we will be putting out some songs soon. Other than that working on the tool company BrthrHood I run with my brother Mike. Trying to make 2026 a good one.
